Biography
Dr Abhishek Asthana, CEng, PhD, is a Reader in Energy Engineering and the Director of Hallam Energy, the energy research group at Sheffield Hallam University. He is the course director for Energy Engineering and Chemical Engineering programmes at the university. Upon joining Sheffield Hallam University in 2009, he co-founded Hallam Energy and has led 48 industrial research and consultancy. He has won £2.4 million of external funding, co-authored 27 scientific papers and 1 book, invented 4 patents and developed 5 commercial software packages. He has been as advisor to various government departments in the UK. In 2015, he established a Doctoral Training Alliance (DTA) in Energy with 15 British Universities in the University Alliance, UK, consisting of 90 PhD students and 180 supervisors. Abhishek is currently its Deputy Director. The DTA aims to train PhD students conducting energy research in interdisciplinary and sectoral specific skills and experience.
